1000 dancers performing in Tanjore Big Temple - Rajarajeswaram 1000

Rajarajeswaram 1000 a special dance program featuring 1000 dancers is to be performed on 25th of September 2010 in Thanjavur. With the aide of Government of Tamilnadu, ABHAI, Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India, is performing BRHAN-NATYA-YAGNA, a grand offering.The whole concept is conceived and directed by Dr. Padma Subramaniam. Totally 3 dances will be performed. Ganesha Kausthubam, one song by Karuvur Thevar who is considered to be the spiritual Guru of Raja Raja Cholan and Nagendrahaaraya, song on Lord Shiva.

The main purpose of this grand performance is to kindle awareness amongst the dancers, the connection between the temple and dancers in olden times. Rajarajeswaram 1000 is a tribute to the King Raja Raja Chola for giving the world the world's first complete granite temple a millenium ago. The program will be for 45 minutes starting from 25th Sept 2010. The dancers will perform on the platform around Nandi.
