An article about Cyber Terrorism based on my understanding after reading a few lot of articles.
A global issue that is threatening all the internet users. When we say internet users it does not just mean people who use computers or laptops but also those who use mobile phones, tablets and other devices that require the data connection via WIFI or 3G/4G/5G. India is the largest internet users of the world considering the fact that almost 90% of the population own a smart phone. The dependency on internet for even smallest search have made the netizens so vulnerable to all kinds of cyber attacks. These attacks can also be considered as war against the other nation. The attacks can either come from inside the nation or from other nations with the help of people from the nation.
The loop holes in the cyber security and the failure of fool proof security system are the main reason for such attacks. Continuous attacks on the sectors of defence websites, govt websites, banking and financial system is all classified under CYBER TERRORISM, Such attacks are called as cyber crimes or E-Crimes, electronic terrorism, electronic jihad, information warfare or cyber warfare too. too and these attacks are now done even against common man in the way of data theft, ID-Password theft, identity theft, website hacking and so on. Starting from smaller data theft and breach it goes up to higher levels of attacks inside even intranet and stand alone websites.
The attacker in order to control, manipulate and command the opponent uses hacking, installing malware spyware or ransomeware both physically and remotely to corrupt, destroy or steal the data and digital information which includes even intellectual property rights. Ignoring such attacks at smaller instances lead to bigger attacks which lead to higher fatality. The basic reason for such attacks started as a satisfactory act towards the ego of the attackers. But in the recent times the Cyber terrorism have created a feeling of terror in the mind of the victims. The attacks can be done from anywhere and at any time and in any place. There are no locational restrictions.
One should not confuse between the recuritument and advertisement acts done by the various terrorist groups in the net to the actual cyber attack. It is a warfare in cyber domain. The Cyber Security should be strengthened to secure the nation and it is every nation's responsibility to enhance it every now and then. The terrorist organisations could create destructive cyber technologies and every other nation should keep on improving its Cyber Security.
